Privacy Tools supports Colégio Farroupilha in LGPD project
With more than a century of history and one of the most traditional schools in Porto Alegre, the institution sees data protection as a strategic issue and, therefore, adopted the technology from the company from Rio Grande do Sul.
In 138 years of history, Colégio Farroupilha's mission is commitment and care for the community. This mission becomes even more important when it comes to privacy and data protection. Therefore, to manage more than 15 thousand data from its audience, the institution relies on Privacy Tools solutions. The initiative gained prominence in the country in 2023 with the award of the National Educational Management Award (PNGE), in the administrative management category. The case “LGPD project in education: care for the personal data of the school community” was also awarded the SINEPE/RS Innovation Award the previous year, granted by the Union of Private Education Establishments of Rio Grande do Sul.
Automated data control has evolved the management of all community information
The Comptroller's Compliance and Projects Supervisor, Marcelo Souza, explains that the project to adapt to the General Personal Data Protection Law began in 2019, before the legislation officially came into force. “We started management timidly and used internal tools that ended up not being as productive. When we learned about Privacy Tools' solutions, and understood that our needs would be met, it was a natural path to implement the tools”, he details.
Based on the contracted modules, Cookie Management and Website Monitoring, and Consent Management, the institution was able to advance its processes through the automation that the solutions provide. “When we stopped performing our control manually, starting to automate everything in the tools, we evolved our management of all data from our community, which includes students, parents, employees, suppliers and partners”, says Souza.
For the manager, another highlight of the implementation is predictability through website metrics. “The tool allows us to work with different indicators. From them, we were able to identify opportunities for improvements in service to data holders, study possible risk issues and provide all the transparency that these processes require”, confirms Souza. Furthermore, as the institution has a dynamic website, the Cookie Management solution also presents an effective result.
For the CEO of Privacy Tools, Aline Deparis, the project developed at Colégio Farroupilha is special. “As it is a century-old institution with tradition, and in the education sector, the partnership with Farroupilha gives us great pride. College Farroupilha is one of the most traditional basic education institutions in Rio Grande do Sul, founded in 1886 by the Associação Beneficente e Educacional de 1858 – ABE 1858 (originally called Deutscher Hilfsverein). Serving students from Kindergarten to High School, the school's mission is to educate to form competent, ethical and global citizens. Currently, Farroupilha has more than 3,000 students at its Três Figueiras unit, in addition to approximately 500 students at the Correia Lima unit.
